Christmas Lights Switch-on

Seaton Christmas Lights were switched on on Monday 30 November with the assistance of Seaton Academy pupils. The Council asked if one of the schools’ classes would be able to help out with a socially distanced ceremony in place of the usual community event & was delighted when the school suggested that all its Key Stage 1 pupils would be able to join! In addition, the school arranged for its own Christmas lights to be switched on at the same time!

Seaton in Bloom

The Seaton in Bloom Group cleared away Summer bedding in October & set out Winter plant displays. Organised by Gill Brinicombe, volunteers planted around 700 winter pansies, 500 bulbs & 50 primulas, supplied by Bank Mill Nurseries, Mawbray, in display areas around the village. There are new raised bed displays at Seaton shops, each with a centre piece Himalayan Silver Birch, a tribute to the late Lynne Hardman. The raised beds will be painted in a colour suitable to show of the displays to their best effect.
National Health Day

In recognition of the wonderful work done for the community by the National Health Service, Councillor Kenneth Slone, together with villager Kevin Moore, arranged decoration of the centre of the village for National Health Day on 5th July. Despite poor Summer weather, there was a good turnout by villagers to demonstrate their support.
Jackson Street Playing Field

Following a suggestion from the Seaton in Bloom Group, the Council is looking to replace the tall industrial style fencing adjacent to the road at the Jackson Street Playing Field.
Footpath Maintenance & Bridleway Quality Corner to Reservoir

The Parish Council is looking to work with Cumbria County Council to make surface & drainage improvements to the track which runs from Quality Corner towards the reservoir beyond New Kelsick Farm. It is hoped that work will commence later in the year, subject to funding availability & the weather.
Seaton Legion

The Parish Council was unable to submit its objections to proposals to demolish the British Legion building at Low Seaton after Allerdale Borough Council Planning Service provided the Council with the wrong due date for the receipt of comments, so approving the demolition without taking the Parish Council’s views into account.
VE75 Day & Memorial Bench

To commemorate VE75 Day & officially announce the provision of the Memorial Bench, decorations around the greens at Seaton shops & a small ceremony were organised by Councillor Ken Slone.
