The Parish Council have been passed two photos of Seaton choirs from over a hundred years ago, together with a list of those pictured. Viewers may be interested to try to identify relatives and others from the photos.

The Council is continuing to work on the development of arrangements for the provision of allotments at Meadow Vale. The proposed site is a piece of land at the far end of Meadow Vale football pitches, which the Council acquired in 2016.

The Parish Council introduced an award a year ago to give recognition to people who have made a valuable contribution to village life. Nominations were sought in December and a selection panel consisting of Seaton Vicar the Reverend Grainger, Seaton Academy Headteacher Mrs Banks and Parish Councillors Mrs Lily Harwood, Julie Norman and Celia Tibble reviewed those nominations in early January.

Seaton Village Hall goes from strength to strength, with continued improvements to the building and steady increases in users, and has recently been adapted to provide disabled facilities.
Jackson Street Play Area

Improvements to the Play Area at Jackson Street are due to commence in January. Five new pieces of equipment suitable for the 7 to 11 year old age group are being installed, based on findings from consultation work carried out for the Council at Seaton schools last year. The work is expected to take around three weeks.
Household Christmas Lights Displays

The Parish Council introduced a new award in 2016 for the best household Christmas lights display. Nominations were sought from the public in December and a panel of Parish Councillors took a drive around the village one evening to make their choices.
Environmental Improvements

The Parish Council has held a site meeting with Sustrans, the organisation which manages the cycletrack in the area, to address the flooding problem on the bridge adjacent to Seaton Shops. Sustrans carried out some improvement works late last year, but unfortunately this didn’t fully resolve the problem. They have agreed to carry out further work which is due to take place in early 2017.
Christmas Lights & Seaton Yarn Bomb

Seaton Christmas Lights were switched-on on Saturday 26 November. With additional lights displayed around St Paul’s Churchyard and the Parish Christmas tree, a 25 foot tree kindly provided by Iggesund, displayed adjacent to Seaton shops, the village was a colourful sight throughout December.

The Parish Council is seeking nominations, from members of the public, of Seaton residents they consider have made a contribution to the community which deserves recognition and reward. The contribution may be something an individual has done during the last year or over a period of years to help improve life for one or more other people. Nomination forms will be placed in Seaton Library and Shops for completion and submission by 31 December.
