Rainy weather in July led to the cancellation of the original openingday for Jackson Street Play Area, following the installation of sixnew pieces of equipment suitable for the 7 to 11 year old age group, & the official opening took place instead on Saturday 9 September.

Seaton Scarecrow Festival 2017

Seaton Scarecrow Festival 2017 will run from Saturday 1 July to Saturday 15 July, with Trail Day being held on Saturday 8 July. It will be an open theme enabling people to use their initiative to the full to produce their scarecrows. There will be prizes for the top three Scarecrows plus a ‘People’s Choice’, to be determined by participants in Trail Day.

Council members recently held a meeting with a Cumbria County Council Highways officer to address a number of concerns which have been reported to Cumbria Highways but not received attention.
Bus Shelters

Following requests from bus users, the Council hoped to introduce new bus shelters at sites on Lowca Lane & Hunters Drive.

Following the installation of five new pieces of equipment suitable for the 7 to 11 year old age group, the Council has obtained funding which will enable it to provide a ‘Rope Causeway’ during the summer.
Meadow Vale

The Council is continuing to work on the development of arrangements for the provision of allotments at Meadow Vale. The proposed site is a piece of land at the far end of Meadow Vale football pitches, which the Council acquired in 2016.
Seaton Best Kept Garden & Container Competition

The Council will once again be looking for Seaton’s best cultivated gardens in the summer. Nominations of friends & neighbours, as well as self-nominations, should be made to a Parish Councillor or to the Clerk.
Seaton Scarecrow Festival

Seaton Parish Council will be holding a Scarecrow Festival in July 2017. The event will run from 1 to 15 July, with Scarecrow Trail Day taking place on 8 July. Let’s hope the weather is better on that day than it was last year! Entry Forms will be made available in local outlets in June & scarecrow designers have a free hand to come up with their own innovations.
