Environmental Improvements

The Parish Council has held a site meeting with Sustrans, the organisation which manages the cycletrack in the area, to address the flooding problem on the bridge adjacent to Seaton Shops. Sustrans carried out some improvement works late last year, but unfortunately this didn’t fully resolve the problem. They have agreed to carry out further work which is due to take place in early 2017.

Christmas Lights & Seaton Yarn Bomb

Seaton Christmas Lights were switched-on on Saturday 26 November. With additional lights displayed around St Paul’s Churchyard and the Parish Christmas tree, a 25 foot tree kindly provided by Iggesund, displayed adjacent to Seaton shops, the village was a colourful sight throughout December.

Seaton Community Champions 2016

The Parish Council is seeking nominations, from members of the public, of Seaton residents they consider have made a contribution to the community which deserves recognition and reward. The contribution may be something an individual has done during the last year or over a period of years to help improve life for one or more other people. Nomination forms will be placed in Seaton Library and Shops for completion and submission by 31 December. The Parish Council is seeking entries for the Best Household External Christmas Lights Display. People may submit their own household displays or may nominate others. This is an open competition & the judging panel will be looking for colourful, orderly and eye-catching displays. Christmas Lights

Seaton Christmas Lights were switched-on on Saturday 26 November. The Council has arranged for additional lights to be displayed around St Paul’s Churchyard from this year. It has also moved the location of the Parish Christmas tree to one of the greens adjacent to Seaton shops and Iggesund has kindly donated a twenty five foot high tree.

Yarn Bomb

The Seaton shops area was set ablaze with colour on Thursday 24 November! Knitters and crotchetiers worked for several weeks under the guidance of villager Mrs Lynne Hardman producing a variety of woollen garments and designs.

Biggest Sunflower Competition

During the Spring, the Parish Council delivered ‘giant’ sunflower seeds, pots and compost for all Seaton Schools’ children, inviting them to see who could grow the biggest plants.

Meadow Vale Football Pitches

The Parish Council is working with Seaton Junior Football Club to make improvements to Meadow Vale football pitches. The pitches suffer from poor drainage which makes their use difficult following wet weather, and the Council has arranged for extra drainage works to try to alleviate the problem. In addition, arrangements have been made for more frequent grass cutting during the growing season, together with ground works to improve the condition of the playing surface.
