Seaton Christmas Lights were switched-on on Sunday 2 December at around 5pm at Seaton shops. Prior to the switch-on, Mike Milner had organised carol singing with Seaton Junior School choir, & children’s characters joined in the fun. Seaton Scouts served soup & hot dogs & Santa arrived on cue to switch on the lights. Despite the untimely arrival of the rain, a great time was had by all. |

The Cycle Tour of Britain will be passing through Seaton on 7 September & the Parish Council is encouraging the community to give the riders their full support. The Council would like a colourful display of support & is providing a FREE Workshop on Saturday 18 August at Seaton Youth Club, between 10.30 & 14.30, where children can make flags, banners, etc, for display on the big day. All welcome!

Cumbria in Bloom judges visited Seaton during the second week in July to inspect the efforts of the Council & villagers. The Council arranged for a number of environmental improvements to brighten up the village this summer, including the addition of around forty hanging baskets in prominent sites, raised beds at the Jackson Street / Main Road junction & Seaton Library, & fifteen half-barrels around the village.

With the Council’s new allotment site now going strong & proving popular with residents, & with a growing waiting list, the Council is now looking to develop a Community Garden next door to it. It is proposed that the site will consist of a series of raised beds & polytunnels, with a communal building, however Council members are open to suggestions & would like to appoint a group to manage the Garden.

Seaton Scarecrow Festival took place between 30 June & 14 July, with Trail Day held on 7 July. To add to the fun, in addition to Scarecrows, the Council invited villagers to decorate their Wheelie Bin as a part of the festival.

Seaton Scarecrow Festival 2018 |

Seaton Scarecrow Festival 2018 will run from Saturday 30 June to Saturday 14 July. Scarecrows should be on display during this period. Scarecrow Trail Day will be held on Saturday 7 July, when members of the public are invited to seek out scarecrows around the village & choose their favourite.
