New Council
Wednesday, 28 August 2019 07:48
Seaton had a non-contested election in May, meaning that only eleven people had submitted their names for election for a council with fifteen places. When places on a council are unfilled, it is able to 'co-opt' people who express an interest. From the five who volunteered their services, four were selected, & the Council is now made up as follows:
Seaton in Bloom
Wednesday, 28 August 2019 07:48
Cumbria in Bloom judges visited Seaton during the first week in July to inspect the efforts of the Council & villagers. The Seaton in Bloom Group worked hard over the year to make improvements to floral displays in the village. Barrel displays were cleared of 2018 summer plants last autumn & winter plants introduced, which lasted through to May 2019. These augmented the winter flower bed displays at Seaton shops.
Meadow Vale
Wednesday, 28 August 2019 07:47
With the Council's new allotment site now going strongly & proving popular with residents, & with a growing waiting list, the Council is commencing development of the Community Garden next door to it. The site does not have good natural drainage & contractors will be putting in place suitable arrangements during August & September. The site will also be levelled ready for further development early in the new year, commencing with the provision of a polytunnel for raising plants in. In time, it is hoped to be able to produce plants for display around the village.
Seaton Best Kept Garden & Container Competition
Wednesday, 28 August 2019 07:45
Seaton residents were invited to nominate their favourite gardens & container displays during June & July & Council members took up their role as judges in the middle of July. After a few weeks of good weather, there were some colourful displays & the judges, Councillors Mrs Kate Birkett, Mrs Lily Harwood & Ken Slone, certainly had their work cut out. The winners were as follows:
