Cumbria in Bloom judges visited Seaton during the second week in July to inspect the efforts of the Council & villagers. The Council arranged for a number of environmental improvements to brighten up the village this summer, including the addition of around forty hanging baskets in prominent sites, raised beds at the Jackson Street / Main Road junction & Seaton Library, & fifteen half-barrels around the village. A Clean-up of Seaton was arranged by Toni Magean of Allerdale Borough Council at the end of June in contribution to the cause & there were stellar efforts from Allerdale’s Ground Maintenance & Cleansing contractors, as well as staff & volunteers from Seaton. Seaton Academy pupils presented their horticultural efforts & impressed the judges with their knowledge; Seaton Junior School pupils presented the woodland saplings planted by school pupils earlier in the year at Meadow Vale. Villagers contributed by ensuring that gardens on the judges’ route were tidy & well presented. The results of the community effort will be confirmed in September. Well done everyone who took part! |
