Rainy weather in July led to the cancellation of the original openingday for Jackson Street Play Area, following the installation of sixnew pieces of equipment suitable for the 7 to 11 year old age group, & the official opening took place instead on Saturday 9 September. Hundreds ofchildren enjoyed a free fun day to commemorate the opening of the new equipment,funded by Seaton Parish Council, Cumbria County Council & WythegillCommunity Fund, with entertainment provided by Mickey & Minnie Mouse,courtesy of Sweet Belief, Face Painting & Glitter Tattoos. The first onehundred children received a free goody bag, provided by site developersWicksteed, & all enjoyed a great day in the sunshine. The official openingwas carried out by Seaton's oldest resident, Mrs Jean Skelton, who had openedthe refurbished park some ten years earlier. Seaton Scouts kindly erected alarge gazebo in support of the event & Parish Councillors joined in the fun.
