During the Spring, the Parish Council delivered ‘giant’ sunflower seeds, pots and compost for all Seaton Schools’ children, inviting them to see who could grow the biggest plants. During September, councillors visited children’s houses with their tape measures and recorded the height of each declared entry. The Parish Council Chairman, Lily Harwood, visited schools in October to make the awards to the winning gardeners, with the biggest in each school winning a prize, and each entrant receiving a framed picture of themselves with their sunflower. The young gardeners with the biggest plants grown at each school, together with the height of the plants, were as follows: Seaton St Paul’s C of E Junior SchoolJoint Winners: Maddi and Cassie Hunter, 2.79 metres
