Seaton Scarecrow Festival

scarecrow_introSeaton Scarecrow Festival took place between 2 July & 16 July, with Trail Day held on 9 July. People will no doubt have noticed the posters advertising the event around the village. In May, Seaton school children designed posters for the Council and the best in each year group received a prize. The overall winner, which was designed by Alanna Wood of Year 5, Seaton Junior School, became the 2016 Scarecrow Festival official poster.

The Council was very impressed with the designs which the children made; it is pleasing to know we have such talented youngsters in our schools!

During the festival, over 40 fantastic Scarecrows were on display & despite the inclement weather, many people joined in the fun on Trail Day. With so many ingenious entries, it was very difficult for Council members to select winning entries, but after much deliberation, the following were the winners of an inscribed trophy:

1st Place: Mother Nature by Seaton Brownies

2nd Place: Mary Poppins & Bert by Mrs Vikki Henderson

3rd Place: Captain Morgan by Becky Woodend

The favourite entry of those who took part on Trail Day was awarded an inscribed trophy for ‘The People’s Choice’, which was: The Gruffalo & Friends by C Collister The Council hopes everyone enjoyed the little bit of fun which the Festival brought to brighten up the village in early July and would like to thank everyone who took part in making this a great community event enjoyed by both old and young alike.
