Seaton Community Champions

Seaton made its inaugural Community Champion Awards in January 2016. There are two categories of winner, the first is an individual contribution to the community & the second is a contribution as a part of a group.

The individual winner was Alec Hall, the former Lollipop Man at Seaton Infants School. It was considered that Alec deserved the award in recognition of his service to the village over many years, so many that no one was sure how many! He is recognisable to & known by so many people in the village in his role of lollipop man, he welcomed children & parents of the Infant School with a smile & a cheery disposition, irrespective of the weather, & always had a friendly word for parents of former pupils.

He made a point of learning the names of children & took a great deal of care in his job. He has been a highly valued member of the Seaton community for many years.

The winner of the group category was Michael Milner. Michael is very well known for his work with choirs in the area. He is noted for bringing together the young & the old, through the Seaton Junior School Choir, Seaton Church Choir & the Seaton Community Choir, all of which he runs. He also runs events to raise money for many different charities. He carries out all these roles with a great sense of humour. He is a very worthy winner of the award.

The winners each received an engraved, silver salver in recognition of their contributions. Alec's award was accepted on behalf by his grandson.
