Housing Development in Seaton
Thursday, 21 April 2022 15:30

As a statutory consultee, the Parish Council continues to voice its concerns at the potential impact of proposed large housing developments in Seaton. Allerdale Borough Council is the authority responsible for taking decisions on planning applications & the Parish Council submits its observations to Allerdale on any developments.

Proposed developments in Low Seaton continue to be a concern, with two sites under consideration, on Causeway Road & Beech Close. The Council has concerns with the ability of the infrastructure of the village to accommodate such developments, in terms particularly of drainage & highways, as well as the impact on schools. At a recent meeting of the Council, representatives of Story Homes attended to discuss proposals for a development of around 180 houses adjacent to Seaton Road. The Council advised them of its concerns with highway safety, pedestrian safety, vehicle speeding & the impact on schools of additional housing developments in Seaton.
