Christmas Lights Switch-on |

Seaton Christmas Lights were switched on on Monday 30 November with the assistance of Seaton Academy pupils. The Council asked if one of the schools’ classes would be able to help out with a socially distanced ceremony in place of the usual community event & was delighted when the school suggested that all its Key Stage 1 pupils would be able to join! In addition, the school arranged for its own Christmas lights to be switched on at the same time!
It was a big surprise for the Key Stage 1 pupils, who lined up in their class bubbles on the cycle track above Seaton shops, & they looked very excited as they waited for the allotted time, (although teachers noticed the cold more!). At 2.30pm, Headteacher Mrs Banks initiated the countdown from 10 to 1, & the children joined in enthusiastically to initiate the switch-on of the main Christmas tree & other lights around Seaton shops. In this pandemic affected year, Councillor Ken Slone devised a ‘Light-up Seaton’ event, where all houses in the village were encouraged to put a light in a window & switch-on together at 5pm on Saturday 5 December. Something a little different to help bring everyone together at this time of year.
