VE75 Day & Memorial Bench
Wednesday, 29 July 2020 14:27

To commemorate VE75 Day & officially announce the provision of the Memorial Bench, decorations around the greens at Seaton shops & a small ceremony were organised by Councillor Ken Slone.

Around one hundred people attended a socially distanced opening event to witness wreath laying by Cumbria County Councillor Celia Tibble, Seaton Parish Council Chairman Danny Horsley & members of the Cumbria Branch of Old Comrades Association & former members of the 4/7 Royal Dragoon Guards, Messrs Alan O’Fee & Martin Burdon. Entertainment was provided by Seaton’s own Billy Walker, who arranged a patriotic event featuring war time songs & some stirring words from Winston Churchill. The event culminated in a dodgy dancing performance from Ken & Mr Colin (Kipper) Heron!
