Work by the Seaton in Bloom Group began in March during lockdown, when a long spell of dry weather meant that the village’s container displays required daily watering to preserve the Spring plants. In early June, Summer planting took place at the various barrel displays around the village, together with flower beds around Seaton shops, Jackson Street junction & Seaton Library. Plant colours are principally pink, purple & white, which were the favourite plant colour combination of former Seaton in Bloom stalwart Lynne Hardman, who sadly is no longer with us & to whom this year’s displays are dedicated. The Jackson Street bed display depicts a sunset over the Solway designed by Gill Brinicombe, who organised & led the volunteers who assisted with Seaton in Bloom 2020. Watering of displays is being carried out by the Council’s contractors, Tivoli, who have also provided around 50 fantastic hanging baskets this year.
