Friday, 22 January 2016 13:36
Seaton made its inaugural Community Champion Awards in January 2016. There are two categories of winner, the first is an individual contribution to the community & the second is a contribution as a part of a group. The individual winner was Alec Hall, the former Lollipop Man at Seaton Infants School. It was considered that Alec deserved the award in recognition of his service to the village over many years, so many that no one was sure how many! He is recognisable to & known by so many people in the village in his role of lollipop man, he welcomed children & parents of the Infant School with a smile & a cheery disposition, irrespective of the weather, & always had a friendly word for parents of former pupils.

Bench in Memory of Trevor Fee
Wednesday, 12 November 2014 11:11
A bench was officially unveiled in memory of respected village councillor Trevor Fee on 27 October 2014. Trevor, who served on Seaton Parish Council, as well as Allerdale Borough Council & Cumbria County Council, died suddenly in September 2013 at the age of 57. The commemoration event was attended by Trevor's wife Adelaide, children Matthew & Charlotte, & colleagues from Seaton Parish Council. A ribbon was cut by Adelaide to mark the event & she was presented with a bunch of flowers by Councillor Jim Musgrave. The mahogany & steel bench is positioned on Main Road, Seaton, between Coronation Avenue & Derwent Avenue, overlooking the Solway Firth & the view across to Scotland, a beautiful vista when the sun is setting, & one which Trevor & Adelaide held in special memory. The bench is inlaid with a plaque, reading 'Do you know how many lives you have changed & how many you have completely rearranged ? People's Champion'. A fitting tribute to Trevor.
